A few shots from our recent holiday on Skye. We stayed near Staffin so had early morning access to The Quiraing and Staffin Bay. The beach was also beautiful for sunsets.

a fun portrait session..

I love having kids in my studio. This wee lass was very shy at first but was won round with a balloon and a bit of time and patience.

Meanwhile Mum and wee brother looked quite relaxed too.

The Old Forge

I was photographing a holiday cottage in a wee village just over the Scottish border from Northumberland and I got chatting to the lady next door. Her husband has dementia and he has now had to stop his work as a blacksmith. The smithy has been used by generations of his family going back to the 18th century at least and now it sits just as it was left the day he last shut the door. I didn't arrange any of these photographs, I didn't touch a thing, just photographed what I found.

I hope you enjoy these photographs which I display here as a tribute to this man, his family and his ancestors who knew a proper hard day's work.

Pauline & Chris Alnwick Castle 11th January 2014

Pauline & Chris chose Alnwick Castle for their winter wedding and we had a beautiful sunny day.

It was chilly though so Chris didn't have long to wait for his bride to come in from the cold!

The Guest Hall is a grand room for a wedding with a real sense of history

Cheers to the new Mr and Mrs Wilson!

The dancing started early for some young guests thanks to the music of Andrew Taylor.

Pauline, Chris and I wandered around the castle courtyards for a few photos...

...before heading indoors again to start off the meal with the speeches.  The three speakers did a great job. moving and entertaining in equal measure - just what the best speeches are all about.

The eagle-eyed guest used up more than a few rolls of film.  Not sure if I'll be in this one or not...!

The highlight of the entertainments was the singing waiters that Pauline and Chris had arranged.  I knew in advance but they had me fooled as much as all the other guests.  So funny and such good singers.  They'd travelled from the Midlands and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any couple planning their wedding.  ratpackboys.co.uk

Thanks to Pauline and Chris for having me at your wedding.  It was a lovely day and great fun.
